To the summit of Snowdon, Mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington carried Olympic torch on day 11 of the relay. The relay was carried from Beaumaris to Chester. On the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the flame marked its travelling in a lantern. The flame successfully crossed Menai Strait on a lifeboat whereas ended the day on horseback into Chester Racecourse. As it marked entry into the city, relay moved back to England from Wales. 61 years ago, 77 year old Sir Chris started his sky rocketing career on Snowdo.
In Wales, this was the highest mountain having a very good crowd. He stated, “The honour of carrying this torch, and joining other torchbearers around the United Kingdom, the whole thing is wonderful. I find it quite emotional as this is to do with so much of my climbing heritage. I started my climbing here 61 years ago. This is huge and I'm very, very proud.”
3000 school kids greeted the torch at Parc Eirias at Colwyn Bay. The best way to enjoy real thrill and action is with online advance 2012 London Olympics at best prices! So, what are you waiting for? Call our executives now and order 2012 Olympic Tickets at competitive rates.
